Raghavan was born in Kozhikkode. He was born as Alunkeyil Chathukutti and Kalyani's son at Thaliparambil. He did his education in Thaliparambu Meethedathu School, Kozhikkode Guruvayoorappan School,Madhura Gandhigram. After Higher secondary he worked in Tagore Drame Trupe. He pursued bachelors in Rural Education from Gandhigram Rural Institute.〔http://cinidiary.com/people.php?pigsection=Actor&picata=1&no_of_displayed_rows=44&no_of_rows_page=10&sletter=〕 He got his Diploma from Delhi National School of Drama. His first film was ''Kayalkarayil'' in 1968. He is married and has an actor son Jishnu and a daughter.
